# Michelin Collection X – Pioneering Radial Innovation ## A Legacy of Revolutionary Design The Michelin Collection X redefined tyre performance with its groundbreaking radial construction. By separating the sidewall and tread functions, this innovation delivered unmatched safety, durability, and ride comfort—setting a new global standard in tyre technology. ## The Birth of Radial Technology Introduced in 1949, the Michelin X was the first radial tyre to enter the market, marking a turning point in automotive history. Its superior design quickly gained trust among leading manufacturers—Lancia率先 equipped the Aurelia with these tyres, followed by widespread adoption across Europe by the mid-1950s. ## Why Radial Outperforms Radial construction offers clear advantages over traditional cross-ply designs. Drivers experience better road grip, longer tread life, and improved fuel efficiency. The flexible sidewalls enhance ride comfort, making it ideal for classic cars like the 2 CV, Beetle, Mercedes 190SL, and Facel Vega. Even in motorsport, top racing drivers chose the X tyre for its reliability and performance, despite Michelin's absence from official racing programs..
